Size: 200 acres. 3 Structures including multi-use barn.
Objective: Design an overall site master plan for 2 phases of development. The first phase includes a large multi-use bar and 2k SF guest house. The second phase includes a large main structure.
Challenges/Opportunities: With lot disturbance area limited, a single natural plateau presents the ideal spot for all 3 structures. Views in 270 degrees of different mountain ranges in the distance. The structures need to feel connected but not disjointed.
Solution: A central circulation node allows the buildings to fan out and take advantage of different views. The node abuts an existing cluster of trees that becomes a setting of serenity for the primary en suite of the main house. The buildings are joined by a simple program of paths and patios that allow for circulation (even in the winter) while allowing the simple massing of the structures to stand alone.
What is “different”: Varying black, simple materials from mass to mass keep the structures from feeling to large in their setting.
Deliverables: Photo-realistic flyover animation with geo-referenced terrain and placement of important surrounding natural and man-made landmarks. CAD generated layouts for the guest house and multi-purpose barn. Location for future main residence with connection concepts to other structures.
