Size: 2-acres
Objective: Primary residence for 2 with visiting extended family
Challenges/Opportunities: Desert plateau overlooking lake to the West. Grade down to adjacent road below in direction of lake view.
Solution: Mid-century inspired post-beam horizontal lines with accentuated overhangs to the west to frame panoramic views while keeping direct sunlight off of glazing. A standalone trellis over the pool to the west creates an added layer of sun and wind protection. A reflection pool wraps around to the South side of the house creating a reflection opportunity for the often-utilized his/hers offices.
What is “different”: With the views in the direction of the harshest sunlight, layers of overhangs were necessary for a feeling of being tucked-in, away from the sun, but projecting out to the lake beyond. 3D imagery dialed in overhang heights to frame the panorama while sun studies ensured direct sunlight was kept off of the glazing.
Deliverables: Photo-realistic animation with geo-referenced terrain and placement of important mountain landmark over 30 miles away. Revit generated construction documents.
