Size: 10-acres
Objective: Secondary residence for extended family
Challenges/Opportunities: Dirt road accessed treed acreage overlooking Colorado mountain lake. Distance part-time residences have minimal impact on privacy.
Solution: To minimize maintenance, judicious outdoor spaces are covered and kept within the simple building footprint. “Tree house” feeling main spaces are elevated in the surrounding forest to capture lake views. Any wall adjacent to natural grade is concrete eliminating any concern of snow drifting in the winter when the house is vacant.
What is “different”: The main outdoor living space is directly below the indoor great room allowing for an open, covered feeling on the forest floor without the need for a separate, large overhang.
Deliverables: On-site cherry picker delivery and operation to show client precise view and orientation of main house spaces. Photo-realistic animation with geo-referenced terrain and placement of important mountain landmark over 30 miles away. CAD generated layouts.
