Size: 10 acres with existing orange grove.
Objective: New family compound to include large main residence, pickle ball courts, and casita that doubles as pickle ball clubhouse. Preserve and expand existing orange grove.
Challenges/Opportunities: Expansion of existing orange grove to feel integrated with proposed buildings and patios. Mountain desert views to the Southwest. Nearby La Quinta polo grounds and equine-friendly site uses.
Solution: Drive through an orange grove to arrive at a series of clean, stucco structures with traditional clay tile roofs connected by a series of thin, vine covered steel trellises. The structures and their connecting patios gently tier up and down with the existing topography for a luxurious feeling moving from space to space. The user is reminded by seemingly random orange trees (on the existing grove grid) that the grove has superiority over buildings and patios. Tucked further back into the grove on the site is the guest casita, pickle ball court, and clubhouse.
What is “different”: Structures are disconnected intentionally to give a resort feel and make the vine trellises feel as important as the ceilings of the covered indoor spaces. A unique style blends utilitarian southwest ranch and contemporary vineyard.
Deliverables: Photo-realistic flyover animation with geo-referenced terrain and placement of important surrounding natural and man-made landmarks. CAD layouts of the site and various structures.
