Size: Double lot in lake view community
Objective: Secondary residence for extended family
Challenges/Opportunities: Coveted double lot at end of front row in lake view community. Exposure to main avenue in/out of premiere Lake Havasu marina.
Solution: The lake is omnipresent as one moves through the monolithic concrete forms and under the layered, thin, roof lines of the site. A network of patios, pools, and desert xeriscape direct the user through the simple masses of a bedroom wing, 2-story casita with party deck on top, and main structure.
What is “different”: Rarely is the objective of a private space to tie in so closely to an adjacent public space. The party deck is positioned to optimize this connection. As the only 2-story piece of the program and on the end of the site, it relates to, and is highly visible from, the adjacent marina avenue, marina, and boats on the lake. It acts a conduit for lake energy and gives the users control over how much the energy projects into the internal private spaces. For the public lake-goers, the structure is a physical manifestation of the fun lake vibe and becomes an iconic part of the experience.
Deliverables: Photo-realistic animation with geo-referenced terrain and placement of important mountain landmark over 30 miles away. Revit generated construction documents.
